Just another day

Just another day in the life of a Deli clerk!  Once again the little new girl decided that she couldn't come in to work, so who do they call?  Me.  I must be super clerk, with no other life.  HAHA.  I think it's time to can her.  She's been there for 3 months now and I've covered her shift 8 times now.  I'm thinking that's a record for the place.  If the deli/meat department wasn't so short staffed, she's have been fired about a month ago when she didn't come in for three days!  Kind of makes it hard on the rest of us.  But the funniest part is when she doesn't come in, it effects more then just the person who covers her...it effects the family of the person who covers her, (my kids), and it effects who ever I can get to take half of the shift for later in the day...you know, the one that I was actually scheduled for.  UGH!

Anyway... I have something else to think about now.  A couple things actually.  My Cousin will be coming down next week. (tentatively) and I've got to get a few days off in a row.  Maybe I can get this little clerk to cover MY shifts?  Too bad she's so unreliable, or I would.  Also, remember a few journals back I mentioned something about starting a business outta the home?  Well, I still have not been able to go see that Woman about it.  So, I'm thinking when my cousin comes, we can both go see her, see what it's all about, and decide if it's worth a shot.  

Another thing is DH and his current job/career.  He had applied for the best driving co. in the US.  One of the things you have to do is give your current employer as a reference.  Well...  All was going smoothly till they called him.  It is of my opinion that his boss, I'll call him Mr.T, gave him a bad ref.  Just to keep him.  After all, Mr. T has three trucks in his fleet.  (can that actually be called a fleet?) and doesn't run his log books legally.  Doesn't run the miles legally.  And, well...there's a number of things he doesn't do legally, hence why DH wants to drive for a better company.  Wile I have no proof, this is how it went.  The references were all called the same day, within minutes of each other, in a consecutive order as were listed.  So the first 3 calls went great!  Then it was Mr. T's turn.  And the other 3 people on the list AFTER Mr. T were not called.  This isn't rocket science.  So now...DH is stuck between a rock and a hard place.  IF Mr. T continues to give bad references, then how is DH supposed to get a better job with better pay, and bennies?  All of which Mr. T promised, but didn't deliver.  I'm thinking that Mr. T's very recent purchases of the Harley Davidson, crotch rocket, boat, and 2 Clydesdales were far more important then keeping his drivers happy.

I could care less if the man wants his toys.  Heck, I want my toys...don't we all want our toys.  But the manner in witch he treats his employees is atrocious.  Did I mention that Mr. T has some anger issues?  Yep, about two weeks ago, right around the time of the Application calls, Mr. T decided he's start pushing DH around...  Mr. T's a big fella...a walking wall really.  DH told him he could take it down a notch or he's leaving, and unlike other employees, wouldn't be back.  Mr. T settled down, they conversed, and Mr. T realized he was totally wrong to begin with!  

DH needs to get the heck outta there.  Sigh!

There!  I've done my bitching and whining for the month of July!  I Promise I'll keep things positive for the rest of the month.
